Your subconscious mind wants to protect your heart!
3 September 2026

Our heart is an infinite source of energy, and at its core, it only wants to experience joy, calm and love. And to experience these, it needs to feel safe.
We all want to feel good, safe and to be loved. This is our true nature.
Our subconscious mind plays an important role in protecting us and helping us feel safe. It is constantly responding/reacting to what is happening around us and within us. When it senses something as unsafe emotions like fear, anger and anxiety can come up.
These emotions are not wrong or unnatural. They are asking us to pay attention to what does not feel safe within us. Fear wants to protect us and it needs to be acknowledged. But staying in fear for a long time is only going to harm us and can keep us from experiencing the love, joy and peace that already exist within us.
A large part of our thoughts, behaviours and responses happen automatically, influenced by the conditioning of our subconscious mind. This means that many of the fears and beliefs are coming from the experiences we had or the things we have learnt over time.
And the beautiful thing is that these beliefs can be changed. We can begin by becoming aware of our thoughts and the beliefs behind our emotional reactions. I thank Louise Hay for teaching me the power of changing our thoughts and using affirmations to create new patterns within ourselves.
With affirmations and conscious awareness, we can begin to teach our subconscious mind that we are safe. We can teach it to trust the process of life and surrender to the higher power above us.
Surrender does not mean giving up. It means allowing ourselves to trust that there is a higher power taking care of us, even when we cannot see the whole picture.
We can train our subconscious mind to live from this place of surrender, to open our heart again so we can experience the everlasting joy, love and peace.
Reflection question for you:
Can you become aware of the fears that are holding you back and change them? Are you willing to trust the process of life?
